Driving Instructors Snow loss of Income

Many people thinking about becoming a driving instructor in the UK might not be aware of how the current adverse weather of falling snow, icy roads and cold temperatures can affect the instructors income, after all those adverts claiming you can earn £30,000 a year want you to believe all is rosey in the world of an ADI.

Well from the week just before christmas 2009, various parts of the UK have been having heavy snow falling which has led the DSA to cancel many driving tests, and while some instructors have been able to continue to give various driving lessons, they have seen a drop in instructor income due to cancellations of tuition for beginners, those practising manuovers and those that had practical driving tests booked. December and early January is usually a bad time for driving instructors due to most people diverting money for christmas activities and presents, but having to then be forced to cancel the few sessions with learner drivers that are willing to pay at this quiet time is really tough, and not something that those ADI training organisations will tell you about the life of being a driving instructor.

With the credit crunch dealing it's own blow, 2009 has not been a very good year to be a driving instructor. I'm hoping that the weather improves for the better soon, so that we can try and recoup some of the income we've lost over the last 3 weeks of so, and survive this big winter freeze hitting the UK.
