I got a call from a test candidate who needed my help because their driving instructor had been caught on their previous lesson by the police taking a mobile phone call, and with a DSA car assessment not too far away did not want to continue with the same ADI!
I don't understand how after spending so much money, time and effort to become a DSA approved driving instructoryou would risk your means of living just for the sake of a lesson or two!
Instructors can not have more than 6 points on their licence if they want to continue to be on the DSA register of approved instructors, so it is important that you don't break speed limits, run red traffic lights or get caught using a mobile phone either while driving, or giving paid tuition to learners.
So if you are currently training to be an ADI, bear this in mind, as normal drivers need 12 points to be banned, but for you, your licence is your bread winner and it is 6 points and the end of the road.
